OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Mitchell Mitch Bud Darbonne will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mitchell Mitch Bud Darbonne, age 57, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014, in Opelousas. He was a native of Opelousas, LA, and a longtime resident of Colorado. He was currently residing in Opelousas, LA. He was a lover of music and enjoyed playing the drums. He also enjoyed cooking and sampling delicious Cajun cuisine, especially boudin. He was very proud of his Cajun heritage
He was survived by his sisters, Carrol Darbonne Lafleur and her husband, Richard of Opelousas and Juanita Moreau Richard of Lafayette godchild, Kevin Lafleur and his wife, Karrie of Opelousas nieces and nephews, Celeste Lafleur Rushing and her husband, Ben of Carencro Kim Lafleur Estis and her husband, Chance of Washington Chad Lafleur and his wife, Danie of Opelousas Ron Richard and his wife, Denise of Carencro and Shawn Richard of Lafayette and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchel Darbonne and Laura Mae Soileau Darbonne his brotherinlaw, Ronald Richard and nephew, Mark Richard.
Pallbearers will be Tristan Estis, Mitchel Rushing, Kevin Lafleur, Chad Lafleur, Ben Rushing, and Ron Richard. Cole Lafleur and Luke Lafleur will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help defray the funeral expenses.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm in the funeral home on Tuesday.
