Mildred Stelly

A resident of Port Barre, LA. She died on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 6:35 a.m. at her home, surrounded by her family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Mildred was born the daughter of Joseph Aymond Sr. and Velma Darbonne Aymond on March 22, 1938. She married Jesse Sonny Stelly on May 26, 1956, and together they raised five daughters and two sons, Elizabeth Stelly Landry and her husband, Rudy of Port Barre Christopher Stelly and his wife, Theresa of Washington, LA Angie Stelly Smith and her husband, Dean of Longville, LA Steve Stelly and his wife, Karen of Ventress, LA Kathleen Frances Stelly Leger and her husband, Mitchell of Grand Prairie, LA Jessie J. Stelly Babin and her husband, Louis of Krotz Springs, LA and Kimberly Stelly Goodwin and her husband, Benjamin of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amanda Myrianna Lee, Miranda Elizabeth Landry, Chantel Marie Stelly, Jaime Leigh Mincey, Caleb Christopher Stelly, Brandon Joel Veillon, Jared Scott Veillon, Michael Anthony Stelly, Jacob Shane Leger, Katelyn Michelle Leger Meche, Jesslyn Danielle Leger, Blake Anthony Babin, Dawson Lane Stelly, Alison Paige Goodwin, and Madison Claire Goodwin great grandchildren, Charles Michael Lee, Austin Alexander Lee, Morgan Faye Landry, Michael Dale Landry, Jr., Mark Guidry, Thomas Mincey, and Joshua Mincey sisters, Vertie LeBlanc of Port Barre and Jackie Morain of Waxia and one brother, Joseph Aymond, Jr. of Port Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Her pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jacob, Brandon, Blake, Caleb, Michael and Jared. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother, Joseph Aymond Jr., sonsinlaw, Rudy Landry, Dean Smith, Mitchell Leger, Louis Babin, and Benjamin Goodwin and former soninlaw, Randy Lanclos.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mrs. Mildred to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Attn: Tribute Program, Tribute Acct. 28931077, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148.

Visiting will be at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Friday, September 16, 2011, from 4 pm until 9pm and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. Conducted by the Father Daniel Picard. Interment to follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
