Michelle Vidrine

November 23, 1967 — July 29, 2020

Opelousas - Michelle Vidrine passed away at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA at 11:00 p.m. on July 29, 2020 at the age of 52. Although Michelle lost her 2-year battle with cancer, she remained hopeful throughout, always believing in the miracle of modern medicine and the dedication of her medical team.

Michelle Denise Vidrine was born on November 23, 1967 in Lafayette, LA and was a long-time resident of Plaisance, LA.

Michelle is survived by her only child, and true love of her life, Tony Heath Vidrine of Opelousas, LA; two sisters, Roxanne Vidrine of Opelousas, LA and Lynette Domengeaux of Youngsville, LA; 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 4 great-nephews, and 2 great-nieces.

Michelle is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby J. Vidrine and Charleen N. Fontenot; paternal grandparents, Antoine B. Vidrine and Georgianna S. Vidrine; maternal grandparents, Hilbert and Loudie C. Nero; and, brother, Gregory K. Fontenot.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private memorial and burial services will be held for family only.

For those who wish to express sympathy, the family would ask that a charitable donation be made in Michelle’s name to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 17732 Highland Road, Suite G, Box 241, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Charles Aswell, III and his staff in Ville Platte, LA; the medical team and staff at Ochsner Health System (Multi-Transplant Institute) in New Orleans, LA; the ICU team at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, LA; and, the medical and spiritual team and staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA for their comfort care and compassion.
