Michael Shayne O'Connor

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Michael Shayne OConnor, age 34, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the New Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre. Fr. Nicky Trahan will officiate the Mass.

Michael was a life-long resident of Krotz Springs. He died on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in Concordia Parish.

He was well known to everyone and lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed being outdoors and was a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Simon OConnor of Krotz Springs; his children: Michael, Victoria, Brooklyn, and Kinsey OConnor all of Krotz Springs; Brannon OConnor of Iota; and Taylen OConnor of Krotz Springs; mother, Barbara Jarreau Breaux; father, Chester OConnor; brothers: Mark OConnor of Port Barre; Carlos Breaux of Krotz Springs; and Ronnie McDaniel of Gonzales; one sister, Mellisa Smith of Krotz Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, February 13, 2009, beginning at noon with an all night wake until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
