Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Michael Newton Janise, age 46, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette, LA.
Rev. Msgr. Keith Joseph DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.
Michael was a native of Opelousas and was a resident of Lafayette. He died on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at his home. He was a home design draftsman for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors working in his garden. He was also a model car enthusiast.
Survivors include his parents, Newton Paul Janise and Mary Nezat Janise of Opelousas one sister, Debbie Ramirez and husband, Martin of Lafayette his roommate and best friend, Danny Romero of Lafayette two nieces, Kelsi Thibodeaux and her husband, Matt and their daughter, Natalie Thibodeaux of Youngsville and Nikki Ramirez of Lafayette and a host of aunts and uncles in Louisiana and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Etienne and Olivia Richard Janise and maternal grandparents, James and Agnes Guillory Nezat.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
