Opelousas Funeral services for Merrick Joseph Anslem, age 93 will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the Sibille Funeral Home Opelousas. Internment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Father Ted Broussard will celebrate the service.
Merrick was a resident of Lawtell. He passed away on Tuesday September 28, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System.
Merrick proudly served his country while he was in the US Army WW II. He was a carpenter and also was a cook off shore.
Survivors include his daughter Debra Anslem Lavergne and her husband, Gene of Prarie Ronde, two grandchildren Brittany Lavergne Schroeder, and her husband Mark, of Lafayette, and Christina Lavergne of Opelousas, and one great grandchild David Michael Lavergne.

Proceeded in death by his parents Elwood and Blanche Bihm Anslem, his wife Anita Tate Anslem, and his brother, Cursey Frank Anslem.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
