Merle Groce

Merle Emily Wickboldt Groce passed away on September 29, 2010, in Opelousas, Louisiana. Born on February 23, 1918, Mrs. Groce was a native of New Orleans and attended Ursuline Academy. She was the widow of James Cleatus Groce, a noted racehorse trainer. Her parents were Alfred W. Wickboldt and Amelia Hermine Schloff, and she was the last surviving sibling of eight brother and sisters. Mrs. Groce is survived by her children James Donald Hilda, Warren Brenda, Dennis Becky, David Janet, Philip Julie, Susan DWayne, and Sharon Art. She had several nieces and nephews and a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreatgrandchildren. Graveside services in Hammond, Louisiana were private. If desired, please make donations in her memory to Christ Church, 582 Walnut Street, Macon GA 31201.
