Mercedes Henry

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mercedes Henry, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Father Greg Simien as the celebrant.

Mercedes was a native of Bellevue and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She died on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 80. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and her pets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Mr. Joseph Colbert Henry, Jr., of Opelousas, her son, Todd Henry and his wife, Pamela of Mire, her daughter, Mary Beth Henry of Opelousas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Arnold and Frances Timmons Arnold, son, Scott A. Henry, sister, Estelle (Teedie) Bienvenu, brothers, Robert (Bully) Arnold, Jr., Alvin Arnold, Henry Lee Arnold, and Easton (Critch) Arnold.

Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. On Monday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
