Melrose Dupre

Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for Melrose D. Dupre, at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Melrose was a witty, strong willed, tough as nails woman, who was considered a "Coonass With No Reverse!" She loved family gatherings, especially celebrating Easter time and Christmas.

Melrose started her working career in the 60s as the first licensed female weigh master at LouAnna Foods. She worked at Standard Fittings for a short time. Then at Courvelle Toyota, while attending night college to receive her realtor license. She started her own company, Opelousas Real Estate Exchange. She was President of the American Business Women's Association, during her time as a Realtor.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Dennis Bellard & grand-daughter, Brandi Bellard.

She is survived by her children, Joseph & Sheila Mae Dupre, Maggie & Rick Gilley, Stephanie & Steve Hisle, Charles ‘Chuck' & Elizabeth Veillon; 16 grand-children; and 12 great-grandchildren.
