Melbourne Lawrence "Sonny" Holloway

Dry Prong -Memorial services for Mr. Melbourne Lawrence "Sonny" Holloway will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Dry Prong, LA. Pastor Rev. Lloyd Whitman will officiate. Burial will be private at Campground Cemetery in Melder, LA.

Sonny was born on February 5, 1938, in Longleaf, LA, to the late parents, Velton Milton Holloway and Aggie Melder Holloway. He died on Friday, December 25, 2015, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville, LA. He served time in the U. S. Navy on the Northwest Coast and the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time in the VFW in Alexandria and Pollock. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and had a love for animals.

Survivors include a brother, Jackie Dale Holloway and wife, Barbara of Culpeper, VA; a sister, Judith Lane George and husband, Carl of Pineville, LA; two daughters, Kathy Holloway of Alexandria; and Renee Guillory of Effie; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great- nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Carol Holloway; one daughter, Sherry Holloway Ross; wife, Marie Davis Holloway; and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be sent to Hospice of Acadiana, J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home, or American Heart Association in his name.
