Melba Breaux

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Melba Pitre Breaux, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Greg Simien will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell.

Mrs. Melba, age 84, a native of Lawtell and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, surrounded by her love ones.

She is survived by her children, Diana (Terrel) Castille of Prairie Ronde, Theresa (Gary) Sonnier of Port Barre, Elaine Breaux of Shreveport, Catherine (Terry) Price of Seabrook, Texas, Christine (Walton) Sellers of Opelousas, Carla (Steven) Bouquet of Brusley, and Denise (Phil) Ajaj of Lanham, Maryland; her sister, Mary Pitre Vandergriff of Opelousas; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Alix Pitre; her husband, Charles Breaux; her brothers, Floyd, George, Bobby, and Ronald Pitre; and her sister, Jacqueline Pitre.

The family requests visitation be held on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary Service will be prayed by Fr. Austin Leger at 6:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
