Mel Rose Duplechain

Port Barre- Funeral service for, Mel Rose Duplechain, age 80, which passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 17, 2009. Funeral services will be at 10: 00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre.

Fr. Nicky Trahan will officiate the funeral Mass.

Mel Rose was a long time resident of Port Barre. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, what she most enjoyed was traveling and being with her children, grand-children and great grand-children. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She will be sadly missed all who knew her.

Survivors include her sons: Steve Duplechain Susan Duplechain both of Baton Rouge , Don Edward Duplechain, and wife Charlotte of Port Barre, and Scott Duplechain, and wife Barbara Duplechain, of Port Barre, one daughter: Jackie Harbour and husband Bill, of Port Barre, thirteen grandchildren, and four great grand-children.

Preceded in death by her parents; John and Hazel Devillier White, her husband: J.C. Edward Duplechain, and her sister Agnes Myers.

A Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday night prayed by Barbara Duplechain. She will also do the readings.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre, on December 20, 2009, from 3:00 -p.m. 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
