Maxie Sweeney

Opelousas Maxie Lee Arnaud Sweeney passed away, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at her daughters home in Opelousas surrounded by her family at the age of 82.

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 1, 2014, in the chapel at Sibille Funeral Home, Opelousas, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

Rev. Greg Gaspard, Pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Opelousas, will conduct the service.

She was born on May 25, 1932, to Phocles and Eva Guillory Arnaud of Port Barre, Louisiana.

She was an avid gardener with many flowers. She loved fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Willis and husband Pat Debra Genin and husband Casey son Troy and wife Elise, all of Opelousas, Louisiana brother Phelton Myo Arnaud of Port Barre grandchildren Tracy Foster, Jude Artigue, Trey Willis, Erin Prudhomme, Charlie Genin, Seth Sweeney and Morgan Sweeney great grandchildren Madeline and Andy Cerna, Justin and Avery Artigue and Adia Prudhomme.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Sweeney her parents, Phocles and Eva Guillory Arnaud sisters, Jesslyn Richard and Evelyn Williamson brothers, Murphy Arnaud and Paul Peck Arnaud grandson Caleb Genin and great grandaughter Vivian Renee Foster.

Pallbearers will be her son, Troy Sweeney son in laws, Pat Willis and Casey Genin grandsons Jude Artigue, Seth Sweeney and Morgan Sweeney.

Visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of service.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Monica Jones, Harriet Fisher, Patty Pitre, Pam Benoit, and the nurses and staff from Louisiana Hospice Palliative Care.
