Max Fontenot

Washington-A Mass of Christian Burial for Max Fontenot will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Max, age 38, a resident of Port Barre, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 24, 2022 at his residence.

Max attended Opelousas Catholic throughout his childhood, and he graduated from Port Barre High School in 2001. He went on to receive his associates degree in information technology at T.H. Harris Community College. Max loved his saltwater aquarium and he tended to his fish daily. He had a passion for helping others and fixing anything he could get his hands on.

Max is survived by his parents, Dwight “T.D.” and Elaine Fontenot; brother, Ryan Fontenot and wife, Emilee; nephew, Christopher Cline Fontenot; godparents, Charlie and Linda Joubert; and his beloved Labrador, Hershey.

Max is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Cline and Frankie Fontenot; and maternal grandparents, Hilton and Virgie Guidry.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. by Fr. Matthew Higginbotham. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
