Maudry Prather

OPELOUSAS - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Maudry Doucet Prather announces her passing on Friday, December 2 at the age of 84. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Landry Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Father James Brady officiating services.

She is survived by her son, Randall J. Prather and wife Cynthia "Cindy" Leger of Opelousas, two daughters Karen Burley and husband Kenneth "Mike" of Denham Springs and Karla Watts and husband Randy of Gonzales, daughter-in-law Seeta K. Prather of Opelousas, brother James Vernon Doucet and wife Joyce of Eunice. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren.

Maudry now rests in Heaven with her husband of 64 years, Joseph Ernest Prather, Sr., son Joseph "Joey" Ernest Prather, Jr., brother, Widley Doucet, and sister Norma Vidrine.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Monday, December 5 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A rosary will be prayed in her honor on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
