Port BarreA Mass of Christian Burial for Matthew John Leger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Matthew was a resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home in Port Barre, LA, at the age of 25. He was known to many as Matt. He previously worked in construction and Non Destructive Testing in the oilfield. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending his time camping, fishing, hunting, and especially riding four wheelers. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Most of his time was cherished with his daughter, Bailee riding four wheelers.
Survivors include his parents, John and Felicia Doucet Leger of Port Barre daughter, Bailee Ann Leger of Port Barre brother, Fabien Leger and wife, Bethani of Washington fianc, Micki Hollie of Port Barre godchild, Carson and nephew, Cy Leger paternal grandparents, Bernard Leger and Theresa Vitte Leger of Opelousas maternal grandparents, Norcisse Doucet, Sr. and Jessie Lacombe Doucet of Washington uncles, Paran Harold Doucet and wife, Cyndi of Port Barre Norcisse Jr. Doucet, Jr. and wife, Bobbie Jo of Washington Henry Jr. Leger and wife, Paula of Opelousas and Hank Leger and companion, Tammy Taylor of Opelousas aunt, Nanny Sheila Doucet Mistric and husband, Cleve of Washington cousins, Chelsie Mistric, Harley Mistric, Emily Doucet, Raven Leger, Mike Marlow, and Brandi Marlow Jackson.
He was preceded in death by uncle, Joseph Doucet and great grandparents: Fab Leger and Marie, Homer Vitte and Annie, Joachim Doucet and Armecia, and Imay Lacombe and Pearl.
Pallbearers will be Harold Doucet, Norcisse Jr. Doucet, Henry Jr. Leger, Hank Leger, Kameron Comeaux, Derek Stelly, and Cleve Mistric. Fabien, Carson, Cy, and Bailee will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Friday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
