Melville Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Lee Schexsnayder Dupre, age 80, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in the First United Pentecostal Church in Melville. Interment will follow in the Bayou Rouge Pentecostal Cemetery. Rev. Ray Majors and Rev. Samuel Ham will officiate the services.
Mary was a native of Bayou Current and was a longtime resident of Melville. She died on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas.
She was a terrific cook and homemaker. She loved to bake special treats for the holidays. She also loved her rose bushes and flowers. Her joy of life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include two sons: Wilfred Earl Dupre, Sr. of Melville and Carl Severin Dupre, Sr. and wife, Glenda Ann of Breaux Bridge two daughters: Deborah Ann Darbonne of Melville and Vanessa Gayle Sanders and husband, Donald of Melville one brother, Mason J. Schexsnayder, Sr. and wife, Mary of Baker one sister, Bertha Doiron of Krotz Springs 16 grandchildren and 32 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Earl Dupre two sons, Lars Paul Dupre and Vaughn Dupre one daughter, Juanoma Naquin and her parents: Severin and Edna Mae Fontenot Schexsnayder and one granddaughter, Mary Beth Warren. .
Visiting hours will be observed in the First United Pentecostal Church Hall in Melville on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
