Mary Parker

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Egby Parker, age 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Father Bart Jasilek will celebrate the Mass.
Mary was a native of Mallet and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. She died on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at her residence after battling a long illness.
She enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. She was a wonderful and loving caretaker of many children and adults in the family. She enjoyed being outdoors doing gardening. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and also was very devoted to praying her Rosary daily.
Survivors include a special nephew and niece, Junius Egby, Jr. and Joy Egby of Opelousas sisterinlaw, Myrtle Egby of Opelousas and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Parker son, Charles Clark parents, Oscar Egby and Eugenie Rita Durusseau Egby sister, Lorina Egby and two brothers, Junius Egby, Sr. and Oscar Egby, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, August 6, 2011, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 9:00 a.m on Saturday morning in the funeral home.
