Mary Caroline Marcantel Mazurkiewicz

OPELOUSAS- Mary Caroline Marcantel Mazurkiewicz, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the age of 75, at her residence in Opelousas, LA, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Mamou, LA, on December 18, 1948 to her parents, Eston P. and RoseElla Marcantel. Mary was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, whose presence touched the lives of many.

Throughout her life, Mary found joy in simple pleasures. Her green thumb helped her garden to bloom with love and care. Whether tending to her flowers or sharing gardening tips with friends, Mary's passion for nurturing life extended far beyond her own backyard. A book lover through and through, Mary could often be found with a novel in hand, eager to escape into the pages of a good book. Traveling was another one of Mary's great passions. She cherished the opportunity to explore new places, immerse herself in different cultures, and create lasting memories with her loved ones. From road trips to vacations, Mary's adventurous spirit knew no bounds.

Mary's proudest accomplishments revolved around her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than spending quality time with them, watching them grow and sharing in their laughter and milestones. Her love and support knew no bounds, and her legacy lives on through the love she cultivated within her family.

Mary is survived by her husband, George Mazurkiewicz of Opelousas; daughter, Angel Mazurkiewicz Courville and husband, Gabe of Lafayette; sister, Joyce Marcantel Bennett of Opelousas; and 2 grandchildren, Sophie Courville and Jack Courville. 

Mary Caroline Mazurkiewicz leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry on her spirit of generosity and warmth in all that we do.
