Mary Lou Gay Young
Opelousas Funeral services for Mary Lou Gay Young, 88, will be held at 10:30AM Friday, December 1, 2006, in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, followed by burial in the Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Opelousas.
Reverend Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.
Mrs. Young, who was a lifelong resident of Opelousas, died on November 28, 2006 at The Care Center in Baton Rouge.
Mrs. Young's family remembers her as a woman who loved cooking and feeding friends and relatives. She also loved flowers and gardening, but her first love was Jesus more than anything else.
Mrs. Young was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include: a son, Rene Robert Bobby Young and wife Ruth of Baton Rouge; daughter, Wanda Y. Johnson and husband Floyd of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Stephanie and Renee Johnson of Baton Rouge and Rachelle Noland and husband Elton of Centerville, Miss.; two great grandchildren, Erik and Ethan Noland of Centerville, Miss.; three step-grandchildren, Angie Ditrich and husband Randy of Prairieville, Allison Ryan of Cape Coral, Florida, and Trey DeFrances III of Monroe; six step great grandchildren, Brooke and Courtney Winner, Conor and Alana Ryan, Seth Ditrich and Randi Marie Ditrich; a very special friend, Alma Wilbert of Baton Rouge.
Mary Lou Young was preceded in death by her husband Rene Young; father, Jean Faustin Gay and mother, Amenthe Labbe Gay; a brother, Ogden Gay; and four sisters, Rita Fontenot, Ruby Delahoussaye, Sedonia Sonnier, and Anita Locombe.
