Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Lavergne Bergeron on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde. Fr. Mark Ledoux will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mary Lavergne Bergeron, a beloved homemaker known for her kind and loving nature. Mary was born on February 4, 1944, in Opelousas, a place she always held dear to her heart was Prairie Ronde where she lived. She passed away on April 25, 2024, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home.
Mary dedicated her life to caring for her family as a devoted homemaker. Her warm and affectionate personality touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and the countless memories she created with those around her.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Shielda Jane Bergeron, and her sons, John Daryl Bergeron (Gwen), Joseph Gerald Bergeron, Larry Dale Bergeron (Misty), and Michael Gary Bergeron (Gwenda). Mary's presence will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Candice Lorena Bergeron, Joseph Gerald Bergeron Jr., John and Aaron Miller, Heather Bergeron, Ariel Bergeron, Beth Bergeron, Sarah Bergeron, Annah Bergeron, Joshua Bergeron, Rhett Bergeron, and Casey Bergeron. Additionally, she leaves behind 30 great-grandchildren who brought joy into her life.
Mary is mourned by the lost of her husband, John Larry Bergeron, brothers, John Allen and Lionel Lavergne, as well as sisters Leona Lavergne Elkins and Mary Rose Dupre, daughter in law, Emily Bergeron.
Mary Lavergne Bergeron's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. with a all night wake in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Bill Polliangue will pray the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday evening in the funeral home chapel. On Monday, April 29,2024 the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearer's will be Larry Bergeron, Michael Bergeron, Jack Niette, Jon Niette, Paul Richard, and Lee Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Bergeron, Gerald Bergeron, and Jo Jo Bergeron.
