Mary Jolivette

November 3, 1935 — April 5, 2012

Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mary Velma Jolivette, age 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery. Father James Lambert will celebrate the Mass.
Mary Velma was born in Sunset, Louisiana on November 3, 1935, the forth daughter of Frank and Adrienne Guilbeau Jolivette. A life long resident of Sunset, she grew up there with four sisters and brothers: Miralda, Alice, Frances, Anna, and Eugene.
Infirmed all of her life, she was homebound and cared for by her parents and sister until 2008, when her illness required home care. A very simple person, she possessed a remarkable memory and could recall names, dates, and details of just about anyone in the family you needed to know about. She loved to eat and seldom turned down any good cooking. She was a caring and loving sister and especially loving to her nieces and nephews who she enjoyed being around. She was also lifelong parishioner of St. Charles Church in Grand Coteau.
The Lord called Mary Velma home on the morning of April 5, 2012, the same day he called her father home fortythree years earlier. A resident at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, she died very peaceful in her sleep and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Velma leaves behind one sister Anna J. Mouton of Houston, Texas one brotherinlaw, James C. Billeaudeau of Frilot Cove, Louisiana, seven nieces, and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Adrienne Jolivette, sister, Miralda J. Billeaudeau, brother, Joseph Eugene Jolivette, sisters Mary Frances Jolivette, and Alice J. Olivier, and two brothersinlaw: Ray Olivier, and John Morris Mounton, Sr.
