Mary Jane Fontenot

Opelousas- Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Jane Francois Fontenot, age 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bridget Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery Mausoleum in Lawtell.

Fr. Dan Picard will officiate the Mass.

Mrs. Mary Jane was a long time resident of Lawtell. She died on November 18, 2009, at Heritage Manor of Opelousas. She was a Senior Companion Volunteer for twelve years, and a member of St. Bridgets Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking which she was good at it and spending time visiting with people. She was a very loving and sweet wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband of many years, George Fontenot of Prairie Ronde; her five sons: Gerald Fontenot and wife, Mary of Lawtell; Randy Fontenot and wife, Jamie of Lawtell; Michael Fontenot of Opelousas; Steven Fontenot and wife, Rhonda of Lawtell; and Jimmie Fontenot and wife, Anna of Lawtell; two daughters: Diana Vidrine and husband, Darrel of Stafford, VA; and Jennifer Fontenot of Lawtell; twenty-nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Easter Miller Francois; her two sons: John Fontenot and Kenneth Fontenot; and her two brothers: John Francois and Earl Francois.

Pallbearers will be Billy Fontenot, Tracey Fontenot, Bryan Fontenot, Derrick Fontenot, Jonathan Fontenot, and Donald Lachney.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
