Mary Frances Jolivette

Grand Coteau-Funeral services for Miss Mary Frances Jolivette, age 77, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Mary Frances Jolivette was born in Sunset, Louisiana on October 14, 1932, the third daughter of Frank and Adrienne Guilbeau Jolivette. A life long resident of Sunset, she grew up there with four sisters and a brother: Miralda, Alice, Velma, Anna, and Eugene.

She was well known for her culinary skills, as she worked as a cafeteria cook for 13 years at both Sunset and Beau Chene High Schools. She loved cooking for her family and friends and became well known for her turkey rolls. However, she will be mostly remembered for her caring for the sick in her family as she took care of her father, Frank, her aunt, Mary, her brother, Eugene, and most notably her beloved sister, Velma whom she took care of for 51 years at their home in Sunset.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, at her nephews residence in Lafayette, the Lord called Mary Frances at 3:21 a.m. She died very peaceful and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Three sisters survive Mary Frances: Alice J. Olivier of San Francisco, California; Velma Jolivette of Sunset, Louisiana; and Anna J. Mouton of Houston, Texas; one brother-in-law, James C. Billeaudeau of Opelousas, Louisiana; and host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Adrienne Jolivette; sister, Miralda J. Billeaudeau; brother, Joseph Eugene Jolivette; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Olivier and John Morris Mouton, Sr.
