Mary Evans

Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mary Lou Mayer Evans, at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Officiating the Mass will be Reverend Daniel Picard. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary Lou, age 86, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Lafayette General Health System.

She is survived by her children, Michael Wayne Evans of Lafayette, John Steven Evans and his wife, Glenda of Watson, LA., Mary Elizabeth Gonzalez and her husband, Robert of New York, and Catherine Joan Markel of Lafayette; grandchildren, Paul Gonzalez, Lisa Price, Christopher Jacob Evans, Barbara Rose Evans, Jessica Leah Head, Michelle Wynette Alfaro; and great grandchildren, Ronan Price, Darla Price, Denny Alfaro, Janna Head, Rebekah Head, Rachel Head, Emily Head, Justin Head II.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jerry Evans; parents, Eraste and Fannie Darbonne Mayer; son-in-law, Robert Markel, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Denise Hutchins Evans.

The family requests visitation be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel by Deacon Dwanye Joubert.
