Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ella Arnaud Tella Quebedeaux, age 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008, In the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas.

Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.

Mrs. Quebedeaux was born in Port Arthur, TX, and was a long-time resident of Arnaudville. She was known as Tella, Happy Day, and Mamom Toc Toc. She died on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.

Mrs. Quebedeaux loved three things in life: her family, especially her children and grandchildren, her friends, and her home. She enjoyed babysitting, baking homemade bread, reading the Bible, and sharing scripture with her family and friends. She enjoyed helping out on the family farm. All of those things brought her much joy. She cherished her first flight to the Grand Ole Opry. She was also picked as Queen of the Nursing Home and participated in Special Olympics. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by three sons: Jerry Quebedeaux and wife, Marie; Daniel Quebedeaux, Jr. and wife, Jeanette; and Michael Quebedeaux and wife, Deborah, all of Arnaudville; three daughters: Jessie Lee Quebedeaux and husband, Thiel of New Iberia; Judy Marie Quebedeaux and Tim Deason of Lafayette; and Ruth Hebert of Arnaudville; three brothers: Verman Arnaud of Arnaudville; Rodney Arnaud and wife, Verna Mae of Port Barre; and Sheldon Arnaud and wife, Cindy of Port Neches, TX; two sisters: Geraldine Oehlschlager and husband, Richard of Boise, ID; and Barbara Bergeron and husband, Lester of Butte La Rose; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Quebedeaux, Sr.; parents: Sam and Isaure Olivier Arnaud; son, Timothy John Quebedeaux; daughter, Lovinia Q. Gil; grandson, Jeffery John Quebedeaux; and three sons-in-law: Louis Leger, Dale Weasel Hebert, and C. E. Gil.

Special thanks to all of the family and friends who assisted her during her life; Affiliated Blind Transit, Lynn Blanchard and staff; Acadiana Transit, namely Jamie Sarver and staff; all the administration at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home and the staff who were most caring and loving to her; and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Opelousas General Health System who helped in her medical care.

Visiting hours will be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
