Grand Coteau, La., Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Bernard, 51, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 27, 2006 in St. Charles Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, LA, with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery, Opelousas, LA. Father Warren Broussard will conduct the services.

Mary, a resident of Sunset, La died at 3:20 PM, Friday, November 24, 2006 at her residence.

Mary was a very special person. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She lived in Sunset her entire life and had many friends and a loving family that took care of her many needs. She also had very special care givers that loved her and always tried to bring comfort and joy into her life. The Bernard Family would like to express their thanks to the caregivers from Alternative Home Care, Complete Home Health, and Medical Resources for the loving care provided to Mary during the last years of her life. Mary was a long-time student at Opelousas Developmental Center and a parishioner at St. Charles Church.

Music will be provided by Charlotte Joplin and Catherine Sibille will serve as the organist. The musical selections will include Ave Maria, Be Not Afraid and Prayer of St. Francis.

Survivors include her sisters Carmen Daigle and husband Ronnie of Sunset, Jean DeValcourt and husband Elmo of Opelousas, and Loretta Tauzin and husband Kim of Lafayette; brothers Jim Bernard and wife Sherry of Houston, TX, John A. Bernard, Jr. and wife Wynona of Sunset, and Pat Bernard and wife Claudia of Carencro. Mary is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews: Steve Daigle, Greg Daigle, Phillip DeValcourt, Todd DeValcourt, Scott Bernard, Dana McPhearson, Kristy Jon Bernard, Michael John Bernard, Jacob Tauzin, Joey Bernard, Kathryn Bernard and three Great-nieces and nephews: Ian and Leah McPhearson and Kylie Bernard.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrew Bernard, Sr. and Ivy Mae Martin Bernard, a great-nephew, Jace Bernard and a sister-in-law, Janell C. Bernard.
