Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Mary P. Jean Ardoin, age 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery, Grand Prairie, La.
Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass. Musical selections will be provided by Ms. Valerie Andrus.
Ms. Jean was a native of the Grand Prairie and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. She died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in Opelousas.
Ms. Jean was a homemaker but never led a dull life she enjoyed traveling with family and friends throughout the United States on trains and planes. She especially enjoyed going to New Orleans on vacation with her children and grandchildren she loved her New Orleans Saints another enjoyment was going to the Casino and dancing. Ms. Jean had a green thumb and loved gardening she loved being with her family and friends and seemed to never meet a stranger. Ms. Jean is going to be missed by everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her son, Benny Ardoin and wife Lisa of Opelousas daughters, Barbara Dejean and husband Gerald of Sunset, Stella Ardoin of Opelousas brothers, Kilren Vidrine of Opelousas, Ira Vidrine, Jr. and wife Lorraine of Grand Prairie sister, Beryl Patin and husband Bobby of Grand Prairie five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Ardoin parents, Ira and Adelaide West Vidrine, Sr. brothers, Gervis Vidrine and Davis Vidrine sisters, Mildred Fontenot and Aline Fontenot.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
