Marvel Horecky McLeod
Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Marvel Horecky McLeod, 87, will be held at 2: 00 PM on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mrs. McLeod was a native of Church Point and a longtime resident of Opelousas. She died at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. McLeod was a graduate of Church Point High School, attended S. L. I. and the College of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. She was chosen as a 1941 campus beauty while attending S. L. I. Raising her children and grandchildren was her greatest achievement. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose loving presence will be missed but her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Marsha Beckstrom and husband, Greg of Sunshine, LA; Milton Alexander McLeod and wife, Ann of New Orleans, LA; Monette Dean and husband, Donnie of Opelousas; Anne McLeod of Metairie, LA; and Beverly Johnson and husband, Jeff of Estes Park, Colorado; one sister, Rose Marie Adams of Opelousas; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two close friends, Evelyn Batton and Margaret Quebedeaux.
Mrs. McLeod was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marshall McLeod, Sr.; her son, Thomas Marshall Bucky McLeod, Jr.; one grandson, Garrett Blaine Dean; her brother, Conrad Horecky, Jr.; one sister, Beverly Richard; and her parents: Clarence Conrad Horecky, Sr. and Rena Richard Horecky.
Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. for the family and 5:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday visitation will continue at 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time in the funeral home.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Dean, Monty Dean, Mike Dean, Jeffery Batton, Richard Horecky, Steve Esteb, and Stuart McLeod.
The family would like to thank Dr. Enriko Barthel, Dr. Gary Blanchard, Dr. Hunt Deblanc, and Dr. Clay Hammett, the nursing staff at Opelousas General Health System, the staff at Senior Village Nursing Home, and the LA Hospice and Palliative Care for their kindness, compassion, help and support.
