Opelousas Funeral services for Mark William Bill Walker, age 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Fr. Albert Nunez will conduct the services.
Bill was a resident of Opelousas. He died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at his home. He was a W.W. II veteran where he fought in the Pacific Theater as a Marine. Bill had a green thumb when it came to plants. He enjoyed traveling, his grandchildren, fishing, hunting and going to his camp. He had a car dealership, auto part store, a bar in Marksville, he was a farmer, and a he was Co owner of the Palace Caf in Opelousas along with his wife Tina.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Tina Doucas Walker of Opelousas, his children, Mark Walker, of Center Point, LA., Steve Walker and wife, Gail of Sunset, Jules J Walker and wife, Tonya of Marksville, Christine Hawkins, of Marksville, Marie Bonnette and husband, Wayne of Houston, TX., step children, Steven Elder, of Houston, TX., Laurie Raborn of Houston, TX., sister, Helen Herlickson of Abita Springs, thirteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Emily Gabourel Walker, son, Billy Walker daughters, Joan Walker and Faith Walker, brother, Milton Walker and his first wife, Clotilde Roule Walker.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, July 31, 2014, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
The rosary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Funeral Home.
A special thanks to St. Landry Hospice especially to Guy and Pam for there love and care shown to Bill and the Walker family, and Dr. Gary Blanchard and his staff for all the care.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bonnette, C.J. Bonnette, David Bonnette, Wayne Bonnette, Norbert Reaux, and Dennis Edward.
