Opelousas - Funeral Service for Marion Harmon, age 98 born June 20, 1919, will be held On Tuesday at 2:00 pm at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment followed in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Fr. Jim Brady will celebrate for the Mass of Christian Burial, and Fr. Austin will be the concelebrant.
Readings will be by Allison Kidder and Logan Kidder, and songs, by Valerie Andrus.
Marion was a native of Opelousas. He died on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.
Marion worked at Meclands Service Station 1938, Sanders Grocery Store in 1939, U.S. Navy 1943-1946, 1946, Harry Tankels Clothing Store for 191/2 years, 1965 American Bank- Branch Mgr. Creswell Lane and there he retired, after retirement he worked for Opelousas Catholic School Metro Bingo for 4 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and all of his grandchildren, who he cherished dearly.
Prior to Marion's illness he enjoyed gardening; sitting outside watching jets and planes flying over to Lafayette, watching birds, and his latest entertainment was swatting flies with 3 year old Levi.
He was a parishioner at St. Landry Catholic Church. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include daughter, Janice Harmon Kidder, son, Keith Harmon and his wife, Pam Leger Harmon, one brother, Merrick Harmon of Broken Arrow, OK., grandchildren, Karen Kidder Brown, and husband, Glenn, Jerry Kidder and wife, Shelly, Joyce Kidder Moody and husband, Ed, Kevin Kidder and wife, Kay, Katie Miller and husband, JW and Chelsea Mistric and husband, Dustin.
Great grandchildren, Taylor Morales, Manning Moody, Morgan and Riley Brown, Allison and Kristen Kidder, Landon, Logan and Lane Kidder, Lily and Kade Miller and Levi Mistric.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years Lois Dupre Harmon, father, Clarence Harmon Sr. mother, Noami Perry Harmon, brother, Clarence Harmon, Jr., and son-in-law, Gerald Kidder, Sr.
He was a member of K.C. Council 3409- since (1940) Woodman of the World (1938), V.F.W. since (1946) American Legion since (1946) until time of death.
Pallbearers will be, Glenn Brown, Jerry Kidder, Kevin Kidder, Ed Moody, Dustin Mistric, J.W. Miller, Jeff Reed and Randy Prather.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Bob Duplechain, Bill Duplechain, and Larry Fremin.
Visitation will be observed on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. by Sammy Diesi. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 until time of Service.
