Marie Mildred Ma Ma Richard

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Mildred Ma Ma Richard, 66, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Father Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Richard was born in Arnaudville and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at her residence. She was a LPN with Opelousas General Health System for over 10 years. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Allen Richard, Sr.; two sons: James Ray Richard and wife, Donna; and Gene Allen T-Gene Richard II and wife, Tricia, all of Port Barre; one daughter, Carlene Ann Richard Robinson and husband, Wayne of Elton; two brothers: Lloyd Knott of Leonville; and James Knott of Lewisburg; five sisters: Bernice Tate of Sunset; Marie Louise Knott of Arnaudville; Delores Olivier of Arnaudville; Betty Knott of Lafayette; and Geraldine Knott of Lafayette; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clebert and Helena Guidry Knott; one sister, Eula Mae Moran; granddaughter, Monique Richard; mother-In-law, Rita Richard; and father-in-law, Leo Richard.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Wednesday.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
