Grand Coteau- A Funeral Service will be held for Margaret Jane Thomas on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Father Mark Kramer, S.J. will officiate the funeral service. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
Margaret age 73, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Wilbert Thomas, two sons, Charles Walker (Saderia Johnson) and Devin Thomas, one daughter, Davonda Walker, three brothers, John Roy Milton, Harold Milton, Robert Milton, thirteen grandchildren, Lorenzo Potier, Jeremy Walker, Ariel Walker, Patrick Walker Jr, Auriel Darby, Jasmine Walker, Kassidy Walker, Deontre Walker, Lamar Miller, Capriani Frank, Chad Frank, Cameron Walker, and Amorie Boxie, three Great Grandchildren, Blake Leger, Dallas “Rosie” Leger, Patrick Walker III, numerous nieces and nephews, and a hosts of special best friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John Overton Milton and Bernadette Collins Milton, one son, Patrick Walker Sr, five brothers, John Overton Milton Jr, Clifton Milton Sr, Joseph Milton, Joseph Xavier Milton, James Milton, three sisters, Mary Theresa Savoie, Mary Ann “Emma” Henry, and Alvina Milton.
Pallbearers are Patrick Henry, Ignatius Pierre, Gary Gardiner, Wilton Guidry, Christopher Milton, Kashi Milton.
Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Walker, Devin Thomas, Davonda Walker, Ariel Walker, Patrick Walker Jr, Kassidy Walker, Jeremy Walker, Deontre Walker, Cameron Walker, Jasmine Walker, Lorenzo Walker, Auriel Darby, Saderia Johnson, Lamar Miller, Capriani Frank, Chad Frank, Amorie Boxie, Pamela Davis, and Renee Walker.
Margaret was a former member of the Lady Auxiliary, founded Grand Coteau’s Helping Hands, and a member of the Altar Society. She loved helping people and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also loved playing bingo, going to the casino, organizing events, gardening, spending time with her family, and spending time with community children.
The family would like to invite family and friends to join in the Repast at St Peter Claver Hall in Grand Coteau after the service.
