Mamie Virginia Lowe
Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Virginia Daigle Lowe, age 90, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Charles Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery.
Mrs. Mamie was born in St. Martinville and was a current resident of Opelousas. She died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility. She was a school bus driver for many years. She also owned and operated a grocery store in Chretien Point and a movie theatre in Cankton. She was also a substitute teacher in Bristol and Cankton for many years.
Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Nelwyn Hebert and husband, Pat; and Mrs. Velma Sibille and husband, Winfred; all of Chretien Point, LA. She also has 6 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Lowe; her parents: Maurice Daigle and Philomene Sibille Daigle; and one brother, Ferdinand Daigle.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Monday, May 19, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
