Opelousas – A Funeral Service for Malcolm Lloyd Marcus, age 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.

Malcolm, a native of Worcester, Massachusetts, and a longtime resident of Opelousas, passed away at his residents on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

He was a graduate of Classical High School (Worcester, MA., class of 1950 and Boston University, then served his country in the U.S. Army, after which he worked for the army as a auditor. Malcolm came to Opelousas in 1959 to help establish Standard/Phoenix Fittings. He retired in 2012 after 54 years with the company. Although Jewish, he sent his four children to AIC/OC and even serval on the school board, rising to become president of the board. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, French Club, and the Farm Bureau. He and his wife Shirley loved to entertain at their home, travel and eat at fine restaurants, Malcolm was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Ruth Soileau Marcus, his four children, Matthew Marcus (Kelly) of Baton Rouge, Jonathan Marcus of Puyallup WA., Sarah Marcus of Portland OR, and Benjamin Marcus (Tina) of Tacoma, WA; stepchildren, Wynn, Don, Nancy, DeeDee, Will Buller and Allison B. Doucet; 9 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents; Barney and Evelyn Sacks Marcus; his sister, Sharon and her husband, Jerry Miler, along with several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousin; his in laws, Shirley and Ruth D. Soileau, step grandsons, Jared and Michael Buller and Caleb Doucet.

The family would like to Thank L.H.C. Group for all the love and care they gave to Malcolm.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. and will reopen on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
