Port Barre-- Malcolm Keith LeJeune, a man who excelled in both the culinary arts and electronics, passed away at his home on September 14, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1965, in Opelousas. Keith was a beloved member of his community, known for his culinary skills and humorous nature.
Keith’s passion for cooking and electronics shaped his career path, as he devoted himself to mastering these fields. He found joy in experimenting with flavors and creating delectable dishes that delighted those fortunate enough to taste them. Alongside his culinary pursuits, he immersed himself in the world of electronics, constantly tinkering with gadgets and pushing the boundaries of technological innovation.
Keith’s education started at Port Barre High School, where he graduated with the class of 1983. He also earned a technology degree from Southern Technical College in Lafayette. It was during this time that he nurtured his love for cooking and developed a keen interest in electronics. This foundation paved the way for his future accomplishments.
Not only did Keith excel in his chosen fields, but he also made significant contributions to his community through public service. He proudly served on the Port Barre City Council for 12 years, tirelessly advocating for the needs of the citizens he represented. His dedication and commitment to improving the lives of others left an enduring legacy.
Throughout his life, Keith’s warm and caring nature touched the hearts of all who knew him. He had an innate ability to uplift those around him with humor and selfless acts of kindness. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Keith embodied compassion and empathy.
Beyond his professional achievements, Keith found solace in a range of hobbies and interests. Cooking remained a constant source of happiness for him outside of work, allowing him to continuously explore new recipes and techniques. Additionally, he reveled in the world of electronics, embracing each opportunity to delve into its complexities.
Keith’s proudest accomplishments were not limited solely to his career and hobbies—he cherished his role as a devoted family man. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his wife, Deanna LeJeune of Port Barre, along with their two sons, Kade Allen LeJeune and Kyle Logan LeJeune. His unwavering dedication to his family created a bond that will forever endure. Although he didn’t have daughters of his own, he considered his two Goddaughters, Madison Kartchner and Krissy Malic the daughters he never had. He also considered his Godson Michael Brandon Moore the brother he never had. He also leaves behind his cherished best friend Russell Miller (Angie).
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lloyd LeJeune, father-in-law, Larry Stelly and step-brother, Wallace (Jay) Trahan, III. He also leaves behind cherished memories with his maternal grandparents, Angelo and Angelle Pepitone, as well as his paternal grandparents, Moise and Doris LeJeune Sr. Their love and guidance shaped Malcolm's character and instilled within him the values he held dear.
In addition to his immediate family, Keith is survived by his mother, Shirley Trahan (stepfather, Wallace) of Port Barre. He also leaves behind two beloved sisters, Jo Anna Martin (Michael ) and Judy LeJeune. He also leaves behind his step sister, Kim Jones (Kevin), mother in law, Gloria Stelly, sisters in law, Kim Marks (Josh) & Jennifer Moran (Patrick) and brother in law, Chuck Stelly (Joyce), god children Michael Brandon Moore, Krissy Malic and Madison Kartchner, and nieces and nephews that he adored.
The funeral services to honor Keith will take place at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The visitation will be held on September 18, 2023, starting at 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A Prayer Service will follow at the same location from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
On September 19, 2023, another visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home from 7:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Later that morning at 10:00 AM, a Mass will be celebrated in Keith’s memory at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Following the Mass, the final rite of burial will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas at 11:00 AM. It is there that Keith will find eternal rest in the embrace of nature.
Keith’s departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled. However, his spirit will live on through the memories he created and the love he shared. As we gather to mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, dear Keith, knowing that your legacy will endure for generations to come.
