Port Barre - Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Rose LeJeune Traylor will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, in the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Rev. Benji Richard will officiate the services.
Maggie was a native and a longtime resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at her home in Port Barre at the age of 77. She graduated from Port Barre High School in 1955. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and a Master of Arts plus 30 with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. She taught Home Economics for 21 years at Port Barre High School, Grand Prairie High School, and Opelousas Junior High School.
She loved the Lord, her husband, her children, and grandchildren. Maggie played the piano and organ at First Baptist Church in Port Barre faithfully since she was 19 years old. She was a member of many Bible Study groups. As a hobby, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and doing crafts of all kinds. She loved each new day. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Barney Ray Traylor of Port Barre; one son, Steve Traylor and wife, Janet of Port Barre; three daughters, Debbie Traylor Batson and husband, Schuyler of Dallas, TX; Lori Traylor Adams and husband, David of Weatherford, TX; and Jill Traylor Guillory and husband, Jeremy of Ft. Collins, CO; one brother, Mosie LeJeune, Jr. and wife, Leona of Port Barre; one sister, Cecilia Partin of Port Barre; 9 grandchildren, Jordan Batson, Amanda Batson, Ashley Adams Ducato, Jacob Adams, Samantha Traylor, Lindsey Guillory, Matthew Guillory, Maggie Rose Guillory, and Chad Britt; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Mosie LeJeune, Sr. and Dora Arceneaux LeJeune; brothers, Bobby LeJeune and Al LeJeune; and one sister, Virgie Traylor.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Guillory, Jacob Adams, Jordan Batson, Bobby Joe Guillory, Chad Britt, and Jeremy Guillory. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Adams and Schuyler Batson
Visiting hours will be observed in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chancellor Donald for his wonderful care given to Maggie during her time of illness.
Donations may be made in Maggie's honor to the First Baptist Church of Port Barre.
