Opelousas - A funeral mass for Mrs. Mabel "Sue" Stagg will be held at 11:00 am on Monday February 8th, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Keith Joseph DeRouen from Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church will officiate at the services.
Sue was a long time resident of Opelousas, whose career as a bookkeeper spanned many decades, beginning at Winsberg's, then at J.P. Abdalla's Fashion Mart where she retired in 1986. She passed away on February 4th at Gallatin Health Care in Gallatin, TN at the age of 92. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Gallatin Health Care for their tender care and dedication to Sue during her stay there.
Survivors include a daughter Susan Stagg Taylor and her husband William of Hendersonville, TN, a son, Dr. Gerald L. Stagg of New York, NY, a granddaughter, Laura Taylor Gallagher and her husband Cory of Murfreesboro, TN, a grandson Clint Taylor and his wife Elizabeth of Nashville, TN, 2 great-granddaughters, Lilah Mai and Lucy June Gallagher and a brother, Henry "Blue" Myers and wife Mary. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Nathan Stagg, 4 sisters, Irene Savoy, Rena Spears, Rita Halphen and Una Ludwig, and 3 brothers, Gilbert, Lee and Amos Leboeuf.
Visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral home on Sunday February 7th between the hours of 4pm and 8pm during which a Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins. Monday morning the Funeral Home will reopen at 9:00 a.m. until time for the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Avalon Hospice, 394 W. Main St., in Hendersonville, TN.
