Mabel Gary

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mabel Louise Hebert Gary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will conduct the Mass. Interment will follow in the Leroy Cemetery in Leroy, LA.
Mabel was a resident of Opelousas; she passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at her home, at the age of 90.
Mable was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She retired from Opelousas High where she served as secretary for many years. She devoted much of her time to our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, where she served as a member of the Queen of Angels Altar Society.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Dalton J. Gary; two daughters, Patty Gary Pitre and her husband, Dwayne of Sunset, Melissa Gary Lancon and her husband, Kevin of League City, Texas; one son, Barney Gary and his wife, Frannie of League City, Texas, also five grandchildren, Chad Mergist, Caitlin Gary, Kelsey Gary, Logan Lancon and Lauren Lancon. Her four great-grand children, Dylan and Tanner Mergist, Coralie and Camelia Thomas, one step great-grandson, Jessie Dossey.
Preceded in death by her parents, Theodia Hebert Montey and Ducre Hebert, also two sisters, Lillian Hebert Landry and Ethel Hebert Garber; and two brothers, Theonice Hebert and Percy Hebert.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
