Lydia Rogers
Opelousas Funeral services for Lydia Rogers, age 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery in Carencro, LA.
Father Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.
Lydia was a native of Church Point and a lifetime resident of Opelousas. She died on Monday, July 4, 2011, at her home in Opelousas.
Lydia was a volunteered as a grey lady at Opelousas General Health System, also a worker for the Red Cross. She belonged to two Rosary groups. She was treater who healed many people through her life time. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends she loved sewing and making a garden. She was wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was devoted to her family all who knew her and loved her will dearly miss her.
Survivors include her children Glenn Rogers and wife, Wanda of Branch, LA., Terry Rogers and wife, Diane of Lanse Meg, LA., sister Mrs. George Ethel Matte, cousin, Millie Jagneaux, Grandchildren Chasidy Rogers and husband Adam, Chantel Rogers and husband, Cedric, Chelsea Rogers, and husband, Curtis, Erin Estillette, Lyndsie Estillette, Kristine Cypranio and Cherie Godeaux, great grandchildren Bailey Mallet, Jaida mallet, Devin Mallet, Cheylea Boudreaux, Madison Estillette, Victoria Cypranio, Zachery Cpyranio, Alexander Cypranio, Ashelyn Fontenot, Gabrielle Pousson and Thomas Pousson.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Throdore and Marceline Comeaux Colligan, her first husband, Earlin Estillette, her second husband, Harry Joseph Rogers, son, John Estillete, grandson Jamie Rogers, sisters, Elizabeth Colligan, Tout Rogers, and Ellonaise Culliagn, brother, Avie Colligan.
The Roger family would like to say a special Thanks to Edna Darbonne for all her love and care.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, from 2 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
