OPELOUSAS - Lydia Mae Hunt Bernard, born February 11, 1935, joined the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Funeral services will be Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Perry Hubbs of the First Baptist Church officiating services.
Lydia loved the outdoors, camping, crocheting and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Denise Blanchard and husband Bobby of Reddell, Gwen Guillory and husband Ted of Reddell, Tessie Shoemaker and husband Tony of Daphne, Alabama, Susan Pickett and husband Robert of Andersonville, Tennessee, and Tricia Bernard Disheroon and Edward C. Jenkins of Opelousas and Michelle Bernard of Opelousas and four brothers: O.J. Hunt and wife Wanda, Andy Hunt and wife Lou, Mike Hunt and wife Linda of Opelousas, and Jerry Hunt of Covington.
Also left behind to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Allison Brown and husband Mike, Jon Fusilier and wife Misty, Wesley Blanchard, Damon Blanchard and wife Chasity, Amy Fontenot and husband Lonnie, Rebecca Rhodes and husband Courtney, Donavan Guillory, Jeremy Bondick, Nicole Bondick, Lea Smith and husband Jeremy, Hannah Disheroon and Dylan Disheroon and her great grandchildren: Scott, Preston, and Isabella Brown, Layla Carraway, Ellie Kate Fusilier, Lily Blanchard, Chloe, Peyton, and Izzy Moreau, Adele and Penelope Rhodes, Elijiah Trahan, Ridge and Rudy Bondick, Karli, Haley, Addison, and Lyla Swanzy.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her husband, Charles Bernard, parents James and Mae Hunt, son John Wesley Guillory.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Sunday, December 4 from 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM and again on Monday, December 5 from 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM. A rosary will be prayed in her honor Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
