Ludric Andrew Fontenot
Port Barre Funeral services for Ludric A. Fontenot, age 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
He was born in Leonville and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. He died on Thursday, February 8, 2012, at his home surrounded by all his loving family.
He was born in 1930, he was raised in Opelousas, Galvanston and then Port Barre. He enlisted in the US Army Service during the Korea Conflict, upon returning home. He worked on a survey team, logging with his father in law, then worked for Cary Iron Works in Opelousas, as a Welder, Machinist, Forman, Tech. Consultant until his retirement in 1992. He was employed with Cary Iron Works for 42 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and working in his garden. He was also active in Sacred Heart Church. He was in the Port Barre VFW where he was very active in getting VFW building built, fund raisiers he performed the Miltary Funeral for VFW.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Leoma Dawsey Fontenot, of Port Barre, his sons Steve Fontenot Sr. and wife, Margaret of Port Barre, Andy Fontenot and wife, Beverly of Port Barre, daughters Dorothy Badeaux and husband, Karl of Port Barre, Dianna Lahaye and husband, Mitch of Port Barre, sister, Joann Fusilier of Terrell TX, 9 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph C. and Stella Guidroz Fontenot, brothers, Austin Fontenot, Leroy Fontenot, sister, Margaret Fontenot Miller.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Friday evening.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre, on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Saturday visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be, Albert Artigue, Cade Lahaye, Coby Lahaye, Steve Fontenot II, Austin Fontenot, Mike Dubroc.
At graveside music selection will be played by Mike Dubroc and Gabrielle Artigue.
