Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for, Mrs. Lucy Stelly Chapman, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Reverend Austin Leger will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lucy Stelly Chapman, age 91, went to live with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

Born on September 4, 1927, Lucy was a lifelong resident of Lawtell and for the past 14 years, Lucy enjoyed a pleasant stay as a resident of Prompt Succor Nursing Facility; where she enjoyed daily masses, rosary groups and bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who trusted her life to God. She always sacrificed for others before herself and cared deeply for those who crossed her path.

She is survived by son, John Chapman (Brenda) from Corpus Christi, TX; daughter, Joanne Savoy (Pat) from Shiloh, IL; 4 grandchildren, Steven Chapman, Marie Reyna, Jimmy Savoy and Jason Savoy; and 4 great-grandchildren, Allison Chapman, Madison Chapman, Avery Reyna and Hannah Reyna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Chapman; her son, Curtis Ledoux, Jr.; and her parents, Terrence and Elena Stelly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.

The family wishes to thank staff at Prompt Succor for the excellent care they provided over the past 14 years.
