Lucien Burke Dupre

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Lucien Dupre, everyone knew him as Mr.Burke, age 88, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Landry Church Cemetery.

Father Austin Leger will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mr. Burke was currently residing in Opelousas. He died on Monday, March 23, 2009, in the Opelousas General Health System Hospital in Opelousas.

Mr. Burke was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served our Nation by joining the U.S. Army; he was a retired farmer and rancher, loved gardening and enjoyed a great game of cards. Mr. Burke is going to be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virgie Deville Dupre of Opelousas; sons, Roy Dupre and wife Jennifer of Opelousas, Randy Dupre of Opelousas, Lester Dupre and wife Monique of Erath, Paul S. Dupre and wife Charlene of Opelousas, Robert Dupre and wife Denise of Opelousas; daughter, Linda Checker and husband Frankie of Opelousas; nineteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Alphonsia Pitre Dupre.
