Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lottie Joy Delahoussaye Bernard will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, in Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Bernard was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 82. She was a parishioner of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and had a strong Catholic faith. Ms. Joy worked at St. Landry Bank in the bookkeeping department for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting and sewing but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Ms. Joy helped to raise several of her nephews, niece and grandchildren. She is going to be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Ms. Joy is survived by her step-son, Barry Bernard of Carencro; step-daughters Peggy Lastrapes and husband Jim of Opelousas, Cathy Bernard of Opelousas; nieces and nephews, Dr. Phil Bacilla, Albert Bacilla, Chris Bacilla, Hal Miller, Michael Miller, Leslie Breaux; sister, Sherrie Bacilla of Church Point; grandchildren, Amy Cummins, Eric Lastrapes, Michael Bernard; great grandchild, John Cummins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bernard; parents, Joel and Salonge Richard Delahoussaye and sister Francine Miller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
