GRAND COTEAU- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mrs. Lorraine Norton, on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau; with a gathering beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Rite of Committal will be held in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lorraine Norton, passed away peacefully on the night of April 10, 2018. She was 91.
A native of New Orleans, Mrs. Lorraine was born on August 31, 1926 in the Crescent City. She married Warren Norton on October 28, 1942; and the two remained together until his death in 2015. Warren and Lorraine had 2 children, Elizabeth and Warren Jr. Mrs. Lorraine remained in New Orleans during WW2 while her husband shipped off to fight in the European Theater.
One of the highlights of Mrs. Lorraine's professional life was working in the clinic at Ochsner Hospital in the 60s and early 70s. Warren and Lorraine retired to Waveland, MS in the mid-80s and lived there until Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home in 2005. After living in the Dallas, TX area for a few years the Norton's moved to Lafayette; and then to Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Opelousas where they would spend their final years.
Mrs. Lorraine is survived by her brother, Charles Whitley; her son and daughter-in-law, Warren Norton Jr. and Linda Norton; her grandchildren, Christian "Yon" Norton, Chad Duplantis and wife, Ellen, and Todd Duplantis and wife, Laura; and her great grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriele, Austin and Ava Duplantis.
Mrs. Lorraine is preceded in death by her mother and father, Isabelle Whitley and Johan Olsen; her sisters, Elizabeth Clancy and Amelia Coppersmith; her husband, Warren Norton Sr.; and her daughter Elizabeth Duplantis.
Pallbearers will be, Christian Norton, Chad Duplantis, Todd Duplantis, Michael Bullinger, Johnny Burke and Jeff Pons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Mrs. Lorraine Norton, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105).
