Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mrs. Loretta Lejeune Ortego, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA. Readers will be Megan Comeaux and Brittany Comeaux. Gift bearers will be Dana Stoute, Kimberly Joubert, Lainey Faul and Hailey Broussard.
Mrs. Ortego, age 85, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and planting flowers. Loretta also enjoyed a fun filled game of Pokeno. She was co-owner of Able's Mini Mart and Ortego Citgo. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas "Tommy" Ortego and wife, Wilma of Port Barre, Tony Ortego and wife, Juli of Opelousas, Russel Ortego and wife, Laura of Opelousas, Timmy Ortego and wife Liz of Opelousas; her daughters, Diane Crader of Lake Charles, LA, Sheila Dupre and husband, Billy of Opelousas, LA, Debbie Ortego Broussard and husband, Bobby of Opelousas, LA, JoAnn Castania and husband, Jimmy of Opelousas, Peggy Faul and husband, Mike of Lawtell, LA, Stacey Richard and husband, Ronald of Opelousas, LA; her sister, Dorabel Lejeune of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Able G. "Sauce" Ortego; her parents, Thomas and Amynthe Savoie Lejeune; her sisters, Lisa Theriot, Bonnie Bordelon, Belva Mouton, Mary Jagneaux and her brother, Norris Lejeune.
The family requests visitation be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary Service will be prayed by Deacon Jerome Collins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Castania, Chris Faul, Troy Doucet, Brian Ortego, Kamin Ortego and Hunter Ortego. Honorary pallbearers will be, Chad Ortego, Tyler Pitre, Dustan Stanford and Barrett Ortego.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Heart of Hospice for all their love and care to Mrs. Loretta.
