Loretta Mae Wheaton Hargroder
Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Mae Wheaton Hargroder, age 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Father Paul Bienvenu and Father James Brady will concelebrate the Mass. The Readings will be done by Jeremy Hargrodger and Ashley Allemond. The gifts will be presented by Michael Wheaton and Johnice Thomassee.
Mrs. Loretta was a native of Leonville and was a longtime resident of Opelousas. She died on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time visiting with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, and a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and greatgreatgrandmother. She enjoyed watching the high school football games and the New Orleans Saints. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include six sons, Johnny Hargroder and wife, Jackie of Port Barre Didier TBoy Hargroder and wife, Rita of Opelousas Tommy Hargroder and wife, Jacqueline of Opelousas Ricky Hargroder and wife, Judy of Omaha, Nebraska Gary Hargroder of Port Barre and Stephen Hargroder of Opelousas one brother, Wilfred Wheaton of Port Barre 12 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, and 1 greatgreatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Hilton A. H. Hargroder, Jr. her parents, Laws Wheaton and Alelia Emonet Wheaton one daughter, Priscilla Soileau two sisters, Annie Lou Young and Sidalis Darbonne five brothers, Willie Wheaton, Wilbert Wheaton, Howard Wheaton, Laws Wheaton, and Bill Wheaton and her grandson, Jamie Hargroder.
Pallbearers will be her sons. Honorary Pallbearer will be Blake Hargroder.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, November 14, 2011, beginning at 1 p.m. with an allnight wake until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
