Lois Chachere Richard

Opelousas Funeral Services for Lois Chachere Richard, age 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, with a service in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Cremaldi will officiate the Service.
Lois and her husband Floyd traveled for many years throughout South America living in Venezuela, Peru, and Chile while working for Texaco, Santa Fe and Flint Oil Companies.
She worked as a switch board operator here in Opelousas for sometime then later as Office Manager and bookkeeper in Venezuela.
She also worked as a pastry chef for her sons business in Virginia Beach, VA. She loved cooking, painting, bowling, golfing and experiencing new places. Her greatest love was for her family.
She studied for her Pilots license and logged many hours of flying. She was extremely proud of that accomplishment.
As her health began to decline she valued the relationships with her family and friends. The last year of her life she resided at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home and her family is grateful for the loving care she received.
Survivors include her sons Floyd Victor Richard and wife Beverly of Australia, Garrett Wayne Richard of Virginia Beach, VA., and Lee Anthony Richard of Sunset, one daughter Debra Ann Richard May and her husband Kenneth of Paris Texas, one brother Gerald Dale Chachere of Opelousas, two sisters Mary Allen Labbe of Church Point and Jacqueline C. Mayer Bower of Lafayette, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents: Allen V. Chachere and Mathilda Riley Bihm Chachere, her husband Floyd Francis Richard, and her brother Donald R. Chachere.
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, June 18, 2010, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com.
