Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lois Larcade Pollingue at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020 in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana. Msgr. Russell Harrington will celebrate the mass. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the church until time of service. Rite of committal will follow at St. Landry Catholic Cemetery.
Ms. Lois, age 95, a lady of strong Christian faith, passed away peacefully at home with family. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Immaculate Conception, Opelousas, and a graduate of the College of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau. She greatly enjoyed traveling with family and friends and is the author of Caribmania , a potpourri of historical facts, sightseeing, and true trivial humor of her experiences in the Caribbean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loubie Pavy and L.J. “Tico” Larcade; her husband, Eugene F. Pollingue, Sr.; her brother Lawrence J. Larcade, Jr.; and her daughter Theresa Dale Pollingue.
Mama, “Grandma Lois”, will be greatly missed by her children, Dr. Mary Pollingue Nichols and husband Dr. David Nichols of Waco, Texas, Ann Pollingue of Opelousas, Eugene Francis Pollingue, Jr. and wife Victoria of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, David Pollingue of Opelousas, Barry Pollingue of Baton Rouge, and Connie Pollingue of Opelousas; seven grandchildren, Mardana Soileau, Amar Gregory, Matthew Miller, Daniel Miller, Keith Nichols, John Nichols, and Marguerite Pollingue; and three great-grandchildren Alexis Tejeda, Lillianna Miller, and Mila Rose Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are her four grandsons, Keith Nichols, John Nichols, Matthew Miller, Daniel Miller, and her grandson-in-law, Bubba Soileau.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hansberry Adult Daycare, Home Health 2000, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, and Dr. Fernando Alemany.
